This narrow valley includes the district of Castelmagno where the famous cheese of the same name is made, using milk from cows grazing on the richly flavoured, high altitude grass. The northern head borders on the Maira Valley. It includes the Tibert (2647 m), Rocca Cernauda (2284 m) and Chialmo (2021 m) peaks, while to the south the Bram and Grum (2666 m) mountains separate it from the Stura Valley.
The sanctuary of San Magno (1761 m) is an especially famous destination for continuous pilgrimages located on the alpine road from Pradleves climbing to Colle di Valcavera before descending to Demonte.
