Cross the small wooden bridge over the stream and turn right (south) in the larch wood. A little further on, the path climbs with a few nice hairpins under the nice slopes of mount Bert (2,393 m), and proceeds on a long traverse towards the panoramic Culausa grange (1,932 m).
The cart dirt road here, but then the trails tretches above the grange and after a small clearing it slips into a larch wood. Going up the trail you can see a beautiful and tiny waterfall, that comes from the Meja lake, splashing into the gorge on the right.
Once you reach 2031m of altitude, you find the fork to the Black lake (signpost).
Continue walking for a short stretch (La Meja tour, Gino Certosio path), and within 10 minutes you reach the Alpine headstone (2,162 m).
Then go back to the fork and take the path on the right, towards the Back Lake.
After a pretty steep ascent you find a few tumbledown granges, pass them and continue on the steep trail.
During the climb you can contemplate behind you the amazing Gardetta plateau and Mount Cassorso (2,776 m)
After the steep trail, you finally reach the highest point of the itinerary, on a green nameless hill (2,292 m), where you find a tiny pond.
Now you can start your descent towards the Black Lake (2,246 m), which rests in a beautiful valley. The lake is bordered by emerald shores, larches and a scree. This is an astonishing place, perfect for a relaxing break.
On your way back, take the trail climbing up the north side of the lake, you get to a small flat surrounded by larches. The descent is easy, interrupted by a few rocky crags here and there. Further down you reach the Chiacarloso Grange (2,080 m).
Once you reach the dirt road descending into the Valletta, after about 600 m you connect with the main gravel road that return from the longer tour of Rocca la Meja. At this point turn left and patiently continue on this trail for about 1 hr.
After a few km you will get to the inferior Colombero grange (1,698 m), and then you cross the bridge over the Valletta stream. A long traverse takes you finally to grange Selvest and to the parking lot.
