Hiking in Gesso Valley

Valle Gesso, set in the Maritime Alps, borders Valle Vermenagna to the east, Valle Stura to the west, and France to the south. It contains two river basins, named Gesso Della Barra and Gesso Della Valletta. Some of the most rugged and severe trails of the Province of Cuneo are located in this valley. It is a beloved destination for alpinists and hikers due to its countless trails, Valle Gesso has the “queen” of the Maritime Alps: the Argentera (3297 m). The numerous summits of the valley that go beyond 3000 m are a majestic frame for over seventy alpine lakes and for many wonderful and well equipped high altitude mountain huts.
